PRIVATE LABELS

18 size, glass enamel Roman numeral dial with "morning glory hands".

18 size, 21 jewel, Bunn Special hunter (circa 1895). "Third pattern" gold inlaid (factory marked version).

Why start out the "Private Label" section with a factory marked watch? Because it introduces the 3 private label watches which follow. This "third pattern" gold inlaid circle movement is interesting in that it was made in many private labels.

If you count all the watches in runs which contain at least one example of this pattern, you get 3,100. However, it is known that there are also watches with other patterns, such as bright spotted, from the same runs. This is probably because these watches were first finished in "gray" form, or with serial numbers, but without damascening, then damascened later when they were sold. Therefore, it seems certain that far fewer than 3,100 of these watches were produced.
