ENLARGEMENT

This 24 jewel, 18 size Illinois Bunn Special hunter was made for Paillard's Non-Magnetic Watch Co. of Chicago, Illinois. Paillard had a patent on various "non-magnetic" features for pocket watches. Most famous, and obvious of these, is the white metal hairspring, common to all of his better grade watches.

Paillard was a large private labeler, who's name can be found a variety of watches including Swiss, Peoria, Elgin, and at least 44 different types of Illinois. Most of the Paillard watches you find on mart tables and in pawn shops are low to medium grade, but some like the above example, were very high grade. These watches should all have a matching dial, as above. Although the higher grades are hard to find, you could have a great time making a collection of these fine looking watches.

A big thank you to the kind collector who has allowed me to photograph this hard to find, and beautiful private label from his collection.
