This Brown's Special, private labeled for Brown's Jewelry store in Hannibal, MO, was the watch that got me started on this quest. Brown was a watch inspector on the Chicago and Alton RR, which later became part of the Illinois Central. This watch was made in 1895. A similarly marked movement, with a SN-1373820, is featured in the Bill Meggers book, but it appears to be the bright spotted pattern.
