This
is a circa 1914 factory advertisement for the 18 size 21 and 23 jewel Bunn Specials.
As you can see, these watches were advertised to be available in both hunting
and open face. The fact is, that at the time of this ad, the last hunters were
being made. In fact, very few hunters were ever made in the Bunn Special grades,
as compared to open face. Even before the regulations mandated it, most railroad
men prefered the easy, trouble free use of an open face watch. |

This is the typical, factory
marked version of the model 5, "third gold inlaid circle pattern"
watch, which is featured in this site. The cut-away of the barrel bridge and
the unique regulator tell you it is a hunter. Around 3,100 of this movement
were made, including quite a few private labels.
It is the private labels
which interest me. Please advance
to the the next page or click on the "double roller" buttons
above to see a few examples. |
